Turandot (Orange) 1. act
Jedes Jahr findet im antiken Theater von Orange in Südfrankreich das Oper-Air-Festival statt. Dieses Jahr war eine der Attraktionen eine Neuproduktion von Giacomo Puccini's "Turandot".
Every year an open-air-festival takes place in the antique theatre of Orange in the south of France. This year it had a new production of Giacomo Puccini's "Turandot" on the programme.
Drei Fragen muss ein jeder beantworten, der Prinzessin Turandot zur Frau begehrt. Alle Bewerber fanden bisher den Tod. Auch Calaf, Sohn des entthronten Timur kann weder durch seinen Vater Timur noch durch die treue Sklavin Liu davon zurückgehalten werden, um Turandot zu werden.
Three questions you have to answer, if you want to have the princess Turandot as your wife. But everybody so far found his death. Also Calaf, son of the dethroned Timur, can neither by his father nor by the slave Liu be saved from taking his chance with Turandot.
Turandot (Orange) 2. act
Die Szene der kaiserlichen Beamten Ping, Pang und Pong, in der sie über die Zustände am Hofe lamentieren wird durch Ballett-Einlagen optisch bereichert. Drei Fragen stellt Turandot nun auch an Calaf, der diese korrekt beantwortet. Doch er will nur eine Frau, die ihn auch liebt. Errät sie seinen Namen bis zum Morgen, soll sie frei sein und er aus dem Leben scheiden.
The scene of the imperial officers Ping, Pang and Pong in which the lament over the conditions at court is enriched by ballet-performances. Three questions Turandot give also to Calaf, whom he answeres correctly. But he only wants a wife, that really loves him. So: if she will know his name by the next morning she shall be free and he will depart from life.
Das lange Terzett Ping, Pang und Pong wurde durch seine szenische Aufbereitung in Orange eine sehenswert-unterhaltsame Szene. Die Beleuchtung und Dekoration an den historischen Wänden verzauberten dazu.
The long trio Ping, Pang and Pong became in it's scenic staging in Orange an interesting and entertaining scene. The lightning and the decorations at the historic walls had an additional magical touch towards the audience.
Turandot (Orange) 3. act
Turandot versucht, Calafs Namen zunächst aus Timur, dann aus Liu zu pressen, doch diese wählt aus Liebe den Freitod, was die Prinzessin bewegt. Turandot beichtet ihm ihre Hassliebe ihm gegenüber, da sie seinen Namen nicht erraten könne. Da verrät er ihn ihr selbst. Am nächsten Morgen die Verwandlung: Turandot ist bezwungen und wählt Kalaf freiwillig zum Gemahl.
Turandot tries to press Calaf's name first from Timur, then from Liu, but the little girl chooses to kill herself for her love to Calaf, what moves the princess. Turandot confesses her love-hate to him, because she can not guess his name. There he tells her his name to her himself. The next morning the change: Turandot is conquered and choses Calaf to be her husband on her own.
Die Premiere, zwei Tage nach der Generalprobe, aus der diese Fotos stammen, wurde im französischen Fernsehen FR3 live mit Stereo-Simultanton auf France Radio übertragen.
The first night, two days after the dress-rehearsal, from which this photo-gallery comes, was telecasted live by the French television FR3 with stereo-sound on France Radio.
